Talk To Me So I Can HEAR You

Communication Through the Noise of a Pandemic

Webinar Presenter: By Shawn Peers L.L.M., M.B.A.
Date: Wednesday, Oct. 7th – 8:00pm EST

By Shawn Peers L.L.M., M.B.A.George Bernard Shaw famously said “The single biggest problem with communication is the illusion that it has taken place”. Just because we are talking does not mean we are communicating. WHAT we are saying and HOW we are saying it plays a crucial role in determining whether the message sent is the message received. With the backdrop of a pandemic hanging over us, we have that much more noise that can prevent effective communication.

Sometimes, the problem can be a patient so distracted by the noise of current events, they just cannot “hear” what you are saying. Often times, we allow that noise to build up in our own world and we become too afraid to even send the message we know NEEDS to be sent.

This presentation will focus on why you need to send the right message, even if you think now might not be the right time. Perhaps your STYLE of communication will have to be tweaked to accommodate a COVID-world. So make that adjustment to make sure your patients understand what they need to know. You never know how it just might change a patient’s life!
